Q

How do I book petsitting or dog walking?

Start by calling into our office at 306-955-7387 and leaving a message with your number and what service you would like to book. You can also send an email through the ‘contact us’ tab. An Animal Crackers representative will get back to you within 24 hours. If we have availability we will book your request and set up a meeting with a manager to fill out a file of information for our pet sitters. Meetings are free, however we do charge a non-refundable $15 fee at the time of meeting, which will be applied as a credit to your first bill.

Q

How much notice do you need for me to book your services?

The more notice the better! We need at least two to three weeks notice to book new clients, as a meeting is required. If you are not a new client, then please allow a minimum of 7-10 days when booking (although we greatly appreciate as much notice as you can give us). We understand that life can happen on short notice and will do our best to accommodate any last minute changes for current clients. We do, however, reserve the right to decline bookings if we lack availability.

Q

How much notice do you need for cancellations?

We require 24 hours notice for cancellations. If you have already paid for services and cancel with more than 24 hours, you will receive a credit towards your next booking. Cancellations made with fewer than 24 hours notice will receive a credit, less the cost of one day of service.

Q

I see that you have multiple pet sitters. My dog is picky with who he likes, can I have only one pet sitter come see him?

It is our policy to never guarantee one pet sitter. Due to the busy, always-on nature of our business, our pet sitters work in shifts so that no one has to work seven days per week, from 7am to 9pm. Our entire team is well-trained and accountable. We work as a team and consider ourselves interchangeable.

Q

Do you have anyone that will stay in my home all day?

Animal Crackers does not offer all day or overnight service, however, a few of our pet sitters are willing to do this on their own, if they have time. We are happy to pass a message on to one of them.

Q

I don’t know you from a hole in the wall, how do I know you won’t walk off with my TV?

There's a certain amount of trust involved in hiring a petsitting company. We take every step possible to mitigate any security risks. We employ a lengthy, thorough screening process prior to hiring, which involves multiple interviews, police background checks and reference checks. All pet sitters are bonded and the company is insured through a reputable provider. Many of the staff have been with Animal Crackers for more than a year. We love the animals and that’s why we do this. There has never been an incident of untrustworthiness in the history of the company.

Q

Can you provide references?

No, we do not provide references. Animal Crackers has a well-established reputation in the pet care community, with more than eight years of providing exceptional service to Saskatoon and area. We have many reviews on our Facebook page, as well as a few on Google.

Q

Are you an overnight kennel?

Nope.

Q

Do you provide services over weekends and holidays?

Yes, we do! We provide services from approximately 7am to 9pm, Monday through Sunday. Service runs regardless of rain, snow, sunshine, hurricane, cat-a-pocolypse… you get the picture.

Q

How do I pay for services and what forms of payments do you accept?

Animal Crackers accepts cash, cheque or email money transfer. We do not take debit or credit cards.

For petsitting services, we require payment prior to services rendered. No exceptions. Dog walking services are billed monthly at the end of each month. New dog walking clients are required to provide a deposit of approximately one month's dog walking services, which will be applied to their sixth month bill (once a positive payment history has been established). If you choose to discontinue services, the deposit will be applied to your final bill. If applicable, a refund will be issued.

Q

What are your office hours?

We no longer have consistent office hours, however messages are checked and calls returned throughout the day, from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. We strive to return all messages within 24 hours on weekdays. Messages are checked infrequently on weekends.

Our office is on premises shared with The Hound Lounge, which is open Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm. Our office is to the left as you enter reception. If you are dropping off keys or payment, please put them in a clearly marked envelope and place them in the mailbox on the door. Please DO NOT leave payment with The Hound Lounge (we are not affiliated). If you are picking up keys or payment, they will be located in the same location with your name on a clearly marked envelope. There will be no pick ups or drop offs available on weekends. If you need to talk to an Animal Crackers representative and no one is available at the office, please call and leave a message.

Q

What is your mailing address?

Our mailing address remains:

2015 Alberta Avenue
Saskatoon, SK
S7K 1S9

Q

Do your employees administer pet medication if needed? Does this cost extra?

Yes, we do administer certain types of medication. We can administer oral fluids, pills and powders, as well as ear, eye and paw medication. We are also able to administer insulin injections. All employees are taught how to do this when they start with the company. We reserve the right to refuse service if you want us to, for example, administer a pill to a tabby that turns into a ferocious tiger when we get too close, as we need all our fingers to continue offering this service.

***
Please note we are not Veterinarians nor are we medically trained. We are simply experienced in handling a variety of animals and their needs.
***

We do not charge extra for administering medications. We don’t feel it’s fair to up-charge an animal with a medical condition. However, we do reserve the right to charge for extra time if administering the medication takes longer than the allotted paid for time. For example, if you live in a 75 room house and we have to spend an hour and a half searching for hide-and-seek kitty to give her meds (true story).

Q

Do my pets need any specific vaccinations or qualifications in order to use your services?

No, we do not require your pets be vaccinated, although we highly recommend they stay up to date. Any dogs joining in our group walks must be registered with the City of Saskatoon and wearing valid tags. Any charges incurred from failure to adhere to this will be the responsibility of the pet owner. We do reserve the right to refuse services to animals that would rather call us dinner than the kibbles we’ve been instructed to feed them.

Q

Do you look after animals in care homes or hotels?

We are willing to provide services in hotels and care homes on a case by case basis. Please call or email with details and we can let you know if we are able to accommodate you.

Q

Is there someone available to contact in case of emergency?

So, a snow storm has caused flight delays and you won’t be able to make it home tonight. Who will feed Fluffy?! We're happy to help where we can! If you call the main phone line, it will instruct you to dial 0 in case of an emergency and you will be connected with a manager. This service is offered 7 days per week from the hours of 7am to 9pm. There is no one available from 9pm until 7am. If you need, please leave a message or try calling in the morning. Unfortunately, too many people have abused the emergency system to be able to offer it 24 hours per day. Please note, asking us to water your plants at 3am does not constitute an emergency.

Q

What kinds of animals do you provide services for?

What kinds don’t we look after is the better question! We love cats, dogs, horses, snakes, rats, mice, hamsters, fish, bearded dragons, geckos, bunnies, chinchillas, ferrets, and more! We do not guarantee experience with every pet type, but we do guarantee love and enthusiasm.

Q

I hate walking my dog in the cold Saskatchewan winter, can you please do it for me?

Sure we can. Although if the weather is worse than -20 or has a dangerous wind chill, we either cancel services or have quick outdoor potty and indoor play/cuddle time. This is for the dog’s safety as well as the safety of our (mostly) furless pet sitters.

Thank you so for taking such great care of the kitties. It's so comforting to know I don't have to worry about them while I'm away. I don't know what I would do without your help.

– Margaret
